Zhok Hora, Sheffield’s own klezmer band: Jo Veal clarinet, Ray Kohn violin, Lindsay Aitkenhead viola, Ian Stern guitar & vocals, Dave Westbrook accordion & Richard Neale bass, perform traditional repertoire from Jewish East Europe as well as contemporary klezmer-inspired music from the UK
Tuesday 11th November: 7pm
Bright Season are a traditional folk trio based in South Yorkshire. Michael J Tinker (guitar/vocals), Ella Sprung (fiddle/nyckelharpa/vocals) and Simon Dumpleton (accordion/vocals) bring together influences from the traditional music of England and Scandinavia to deliver foot-stomping tunes, dramatic ballads and heart-warming harmonies.
Friday 14th November: 7pm.
The Sheffield Music Academy where the finest young musicians in the city learn beside top professional staff will be providing a concert with their teachers: the concert programme will be announced nearer the date. There is no entry fee for this concert: just a leaving money collection on behalf of the Music Academy.
Saturday 15th November: 7pm
Neil McSweeney is one of Sheffield’s most outstanding singer/song writers. The Guardian’s Dave Simpson wrote that his music is “deeply felt, brooding songs rich in imagery.”
Sunday 16th November: 7pm
A concert by the Larkin Strings Works will include a premier Ray Kohn’s Octet
